So if the BBC gets millions from the EU - how can it be regarded as impartial and independent?

http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/culturehousedaily/2014/02/the-millions-in-eu-funding-the-bbc-tried-to-hide/ ------- Forwarded message ------- From: "bbc_complaints_website@bbc.co.uk" To: "Simon Ball" Cc: Subject: BBC Complaints - Case number Date: Tue, 23 Jun 2015 12:37:19 +0100 Dear Mr Ball Thank you for contacting BBC Complaints. From your correspondence it’s evident you feel our news and current affairs output is biased towards the government. Our journalists are committed to impartial reporting. They are expected to put their own political views to one side when carrying out their work for the BBC. They seek to provide the information which will enable viewers and listeners to make up their own minds; to show the political reality and provide the forum for debate, giving full opportunity for all viewpoints to be heard. It isn’t always possible or practical to reflect all the different opinions on a subject within individual programmes. Editors are charged to ensure that over a reasonable period they reflect the range of significant views, opinions and trends in their subject area. We do not seek to denigrate any view, nor to promote any view. It seeks rather to identify all significant views, and to test them rigorously and fairly on behalf of the audience. We know that not everyone will agree with our choices on which items to cover. These are subjective decisions made by our news editors, and we accept that not everyone will think that we are correct on each occasion. I do hope my response has helped to outline our policy in this area. All complaints are sent to senior management and programme makers every morning and we have included your points in this overnight report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensures that your complaint has been seen by the right people quickly. Thank you again for taking the time to contact us. Kind regards James Kelly BBC Complaints www.bbc.co.uk/complaints
